The talisman turned out to be in, of all places, the museum. Funny that. It had historical and artistic value in addition to its ability to bring about the end of the world.
"How does it work again?" Faith asked, her eyes never leaving the television screen where another skanky episode of "Jerry Springer" was playing out. White trash feuds just always held an irresistible appeal to her.
They were in Buffy's apartment. It was around eleven in the morning. And damn if they didn't just have the most productive night. So it was not too surprising that both girls were in a good mood.
"We speak a few magic words, do a few rituals and dippity dooda, demons are running the world." The blonde continued poring over the book she'd inherited from Giles. When the ex-watcher had died, practically everything he owned had gone to her but she remembered this volume in particular cause it was one of the few she'd bothered to read from front to back. And now, that little fact was going to serve her well. "Can you just imagine it Faith?" She asked, smiling in awe at her partner. "We're going to destroy the world." There was almost a giddy happiness in the simple statement.
Faith finally peeled her attention from the screen as she smiled back at Buffy. "Had no doubt about it." She eased herself out of the recliner and walked over to the couch where the blonde was stretched out. "Cause we *are* the Chosen Two and we'll stop the world B---you and me." She laid on top of the small body, effectively pinning Buffy beneath her.
"Do you know how I get when you're all ambitious and focused like that?"
Faith never got the chance to answer. The door to the apartment busted open as several people came running in. Willow, Tara, Cordelia, Wesley, and a second later, Angel with a blanket thrown over his slightly smoking body, ran in as he got the invitation from one of his friends.
Faith simply quirked an eyebrow, still in the same position and still lying on top of Buffy's body. "Little witch brought reinforcements B. Should we be scared?"
"You should," Willow cut in with righteous indignation. "We're going to kill you for what you've done to Xander...and to Buffy."
"That'd be kinda hard," Buffy finally said, removing herself from beneath Faith, "Seeing as how you're all going to be dead in a few minutes."
"Enough with the talk," Cordelia said, brandishing a cross. "Let's just do this."
Wesley immediately shot the crossbow bolt which he had aimed directly at Faith's heart. And it would have hit its mark too if it weren't for some lightening quick reflexes that swiped it out of the air with seemingly no effort at all. Flipping it end over end, Faith threw it back at Wes. And, this time, it didn't miss its target.
"Wes!" Cordelia shouted, trying to catch his body as he fell.
Angel let out a growl and morphed into vamp face. He charged, tackling both women and overturning the couch in the process. Tara and Willow began chanting and Wesley laid there dying.
"Take a hint from me old boy," Faith said, getting up on her knees and hitting Angel with a right cross. "The soul thing is *so* not working for you."
Buffy grabbed Angel from behind with an arm across the neck as Faith continued to use him as a punching bag. But the two of them were both knocked backwards several feet when the witches' chanting came to an end. Their muscles refused to obey them and they just laid there helplessly when Cordelia flung open the heavy curtains---and there were a lot of curtains. Buffy kind of had a thing for light when she was still alive. Must have had something to do with her line of work or some shit like that. Only now, that same fetish was going to get the two of them killed.
Angel ducked for cover under his blanket as soon as the first rays of sunlight flooded the room. And it should have taken only a few seconds for the two former slayers to have burnt to a crisp as the light fell on them, bright and dancing with fire. But surprising just about everyone in the room, they didn't turn to ash and they didn't earn a screaming death back to hell.
Nothing happened. Nothing at all.
"Oh shi--" Cordy's exclamation never made it fully pass her lips as Faith grabbed her, snapping her neck like a twig. Whatever spell the witches had done seemed to have worn off with devastating consequences.
Buffy took out the stake she still kept around for old times' sake and whipped it across the room. She watched with a satisfied smile as the piece of wood embedded itself in Tara's chest, driving the girl backwards and onto her knees. Willow let out something between a scream and a strangled curse as she looked back at Buffy with nothing but pure hate in her eyes. Without waiting around, she took off running through the door which kind of surprised the blonde vampire. She would've bet money that her former best friend wasn't one to abandon her pals to save her own life. But, she thought, mentally shrugging as she went over to close the door, people change.
Faith walked over to Angel's crouched form, the vampire still cowering under his blanket. "Well, what do you know," She taunted, stepping on a corner of the blanket. "Guess there are some things that are different between regular old vamps like you and slayer vamps like us."
Angel growled in response.
"What do you want to do with him B?" Faith cocked her head in question as she looked over at Buffy. "Should we tie him to a big rock and let him enjoy the sunrise like Spike or can you think of something more interesting?"
"You know I don't like repeating myself," Buffy said as she slowly walked over to stand next to them. 'And anyway, for Angel---my dear sweet Angel, I think there's only one way I want him to die."
"How's that?"
"Fast." Buffy grabbed the edge of the blanket and ripped it off, exposing the vampire beneath to the sun's rays. Angel enjoyed a moment of true light before turning into so much dust on the floor.
The two girls didn't say anything as they stood there almost mesmerized by the sight of the dusty remains at their feet.
"Up for a walk?" Faith suddenly asked, breaking the trance.
Buffy's mouth quirked into a grin as she took Faith's arm. The two of them walked out into the sunshine, completely aware and reveling in the fact that they were probably the two most dangerous creatures on the face of the earth.
****
And how did the two most dangerous creatures on the face of the earth decide to spend their afternoon?
They went to the mall. And while they were there, they didn't even kill anyone...not anyone important anyway. Buffy licked the spoon, catching every last trace of vanilla ice cream from the utensil. Faith sat across from her, eyes hooded with desire as she watched the sensuous display, amazed at Buffy's ability to make anything look sexy. The waitress came over to their booth and asked if they needed anything else. She left in a huff when they didn't even acknowledge her presence, too caught up with each other to care. Of course, they wouldn't have cared even if they weren't already preoccupied.
Putting down the spoon, Buffy leaned over the table, allowing her low cut top to show off virtually everything. And when she wriggled just that little bit, Faith didn't hesitate climbing onto the table and grabbing Buffy's face to give her a very thorough kiss.
The bowl of ice cream dropped to the floor with a loud crash. But they continued making out on the table.
Loud wolf whistles came from various parts of the restaurant. But they continued making out on the table.
Their waitress came over shouting for them to get down. But they continued making out on the table.
"Don't get me wrong," Buffy finally said, lightly pushing Faith away. "I'm all for PDA but this is a little more attention than I want focused on us just yet."
Faith glanced around. All eyes were most definitely on them. Most everyone had their mouth open like they were catching flies or some smack like that. "Let's get out of here then," she said, giving Buffy a playful swat on the butt as she hopped off the table.
They threw a couple of bills down and left, no doubt leaving a couple of hard-ons as well.
